(Mahr: Providence, RI) – Mahr Inc., a leading provider of dimensional metrology solutions, announces the Mar4D PLQ 4200 line of cylinder coordinate measuring machines. This innovative solution offers workpiece flexibility and multisensory technology, making it ideal for a wide range of applications.

The Mar4D PLQ 4200 operates at high speed and provides fast, precise, and reliable measurement results for complex rotationally symmetrical workpieces. Its powerful measuring solution accommodates workpieces with a diameter of up to 210 mm/8.3 in., a length of up to 1,000 mm/39.4 in., and a maximum weight of 50 kg/110 lb. The machine’s design ensures 3D measurements directly in the production environment, resulting in shorter throughput times, increased flow rate, and improved productivity.

Featuring an optional centering and tilting table, the Mar4D PLQ 4200 offers fully automated, CNC-controlled alignment to correct workpiece alignment errors. This enables the operator to precisely measure workpieces that are not manufactured and measured between centers, using optical and/or tactile methods, in the shortest amount of time and with a part alignment accuracy of 1 micron/0.000040 in. of residual eccentricity. Additionally, with the use of the proven form probe system T7W and/or Renishaw Sp25-2/5 3D probe systems, it’s possible to measure ODs and IDs to form tester tolerances. Keyways, bores, and other 3D features can be completely measured.

One measurement run, several measurement tasks

Multisensor technology combines optical and tactile metrology and covers a wide range of dimensional measuring tasks. This allows users to inspect features such as length, diameter, form, position, contour, roundness, roughness, or 3D geometries (e.g., symmetry) in a single measuring run—close to production and reproducible in one system. With its specially developed control architecture, the Mar4D PLQ 4200 works quickly and with optimum axis accuracy, even with small tolerances.

Equipped for process stability

The Mar4D PLQ 4200 also features:
• A motorized tailstock with clamping force and slip monitoring to ensure fast fixing and alignment of the workpieces without operator influence
• Monitoring systems in the machine that detect and compensate for external influences such as temperature and vibration in real time
• Ergonomic and safety-focused design for user-friendly operation
• Future-proof combined measuring technology with optical and tactile solutions in one machine
• Proven MarWin software that reliably evaluates measurement data and ensures reproducible quality statements

“The Mar4D PLQ 4200 represents a significant advancement in cylinder coordinate measuring machines,” says Nick Russo, Mahr product manager. “Its innovative features and multisensory technology make it an ideal solution for manufacturers seeking to improve their measurement capabilities and increase productivity.”
