(API: Rockville, MD) -- Automated Precision Inc., a global leader in advanced metrology solutions, has launched its sixth-generation laser tracker, the integrated laser tracker (iLT). It represents the pinnacle of laser-tracker technology refinement, featuring several improvements over the previous generation.

The smallest and lightest laser tracker ever made, the iLT weighs just 4.9 kg, reducing the weight of API’s Radian laser tracker line by 50%. Hot, swappable batteries, onboard controller, and Wi-Fi create a fully integrated unit that allows for cable-free operation and the most portable measurements ever.

But while the iLT is compact, it’s also the most robust laser tracker API has ever produced. The absolute distance measurement (ADM) laser provides data feedback faster than previous generations. And the iLT’s improved 8 MP camera with wide-angle iVision fast auto-lock ensures rapid recapture of beam loss and effortless usability in difficult-to-access line-of-sight measurements. The traditional CPU has been upgraded to an AI-enhanced GPU that processes data and images faster for rapid results.

“The breakthroughs of the iLT are an exciting development not just for API but for the laser tracker and manufacturing worlds as well,” says Arturo Quinto, API product manager. “It will change how laser trackers are used in the field and expand the applications they can be used for.”

Stored in a backpack that is carry-on-compliant for air travel, the iLT brings laser trackers into a new frontier—portable enough for easy measurements beyond the manufacturing floor to shipyards, modular construction sites, and more.

“The iLT is a game changer for the manufacturing world,” says API president Joe Bioty. “This is a continuation of Dr. Lau’s quest to push the boundaries of what is possible with laser tracker technology. It’s not only the smallest and lightest tracker ever made, but also maintains API’s elite tracker performance at the most affordable price we’ve ever offered.”

The iLT is available in two models: the base iLT and the high-performance iLTx. The iLTx has a linear measurement range of up to 80 m and is compatible with all existing API laser tracker accessories.

The iLT is available for demonstration and purchase now.
