How is a company to decide whether to use the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, the ISO 9001 quality management system, or both? To explore some key distinctions between the comprehensive business model provided by the Baldrige framework and the quality management system provided by ISO, I recently talked to someone who has used both in his work. He also has taught and presented on the value of each and the relationship between them.

Hi

Hi Christine,

It was nice to read your article. About ISO 9001:2008, I know something as I am in the industry for the last 15 years (most of the time with auto industry). I am also undertaking my studies advance studies in TQM speciallisation. Baldrige award has got a very high  reputition. It need a lot of expertise, dedication, commitment in the concerned field. May be "Each system supports & amplifies the other" but  in any case to start with, ISO 9001:2008 should be an organisations first moto & after gaining some maturity in handing system (process approach), the next jump could be Malcolm Baldrige Award. That is one thing.

Now what about the non American organisations intrested in this award?

Regards,

Paramjit Singh Sahni.
