Joseph M. Juran was a seminal 20th-century figure in the field of quality; his many contributions broadened the field from its original, narrow, and statistically-based focus. As early as the 1970s, he recognized the value and importance of regularly reviewing a business system and its ability to satisfy customer needs and stakeholders.

By adding the managerial dimension, e.g., establishing planning, improvement, and control methodologies as well as using the 80-20 rule (Pareto principle) with quality problems, Juran helped to revolutionize quality.

Throughout the past four decades, the Juran Organization Health Check (OHC) has evolved into a comprehensive, cost-effective method to assess an organization’s current performance, to monitor its health over time, and help develop a foundation for transforming into a world-class competitor.
