TÜV SÜD America Achieves Responsible Recycling Accreditation

Certification for environmental, health, safety, and security practices of electronics recyclers

(TÜV SÜD: Peabody, MA) -- TÜV SÜD America, a business-to-business engineering services firm providing international safety testing and certification services, has been granted accreditation by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to provide certification to Responsible Recycling (R2) Practices.

The R2 sets forth guidelines to be used by electronics recyclers in the proper disposal, refurbishment, and recycling of end-of-life electronics and to address on-site environmental responsibility, practices to ensure the health and safety of employees and the public, security mechanisms, and downstream management of e-waste throughout the recycling chain.

Since January 2006, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has facilitated in the development of R2 in an open process with a multi-stakeholder group.

Accredited certification to R2 enables electronics recyclers to provide their customers with increased confidence that their end-of-life electronic equipment will be dealt with in a responsible manner.
