(Nordson: Carlsbad, CA) -- Nordson YESTECH, a subsidiary of Nordson Corp. and a developer and producer of automated optical and X-ray inspection systems for the electronics industry, has introduced its latest generation of automated optical inspection (AOI) systems, the FX, BX, and BX-UV conformal coat-inspection system for printed circuit board assemblies.

Image-based AOI methods use a historical database of images, which can contain a series of both good and defective components, learn to recognize the variables within a group of images, and apply those variables against all future component inspections. In comparison, algorithm-based inspection uses contrast location mechanisms that look for variations in light and dark grayscale or color patterns to identify the component and surrounding area.
