JRC 3-D Reconstructor and FaroArm Just Released

Enables overlay of high-resolution images to 3-D models

(Gexcel: Brescia, Italy) -- FARO, a global provider of portable measurement and imaging solutions, and Gexcel, a software and solutions provider in the geomatics sector, announce the release of the JRC 3-D Reconstructor and FaroArm, a Gexcel software solution fully optimized for the FARO Laser ScanArm that enables the overlay of high-resolution images to 3-D models.

The new imaging solution meshes with Geomagic, PolyWorks, RapidForm, or other third-party software and exports high-resolution, true-color textured models.

The typical workflow of the JRC 3-D Reconstructor includes the following steps:

• Capture 3-D data using the FARO ScanArm
• Export a mesh model
• Acquire an image with any type of digital camera
• Import the mesh model
• Calibrate the camera and perform texture mapping
• Export colored mesh for 3-D modeling software or video generation

 

The results are photo-realistic, 3-D models, or meshes with texture in a format compatible with modeling software.
