Body

(Siemens PLM Software: Plano, TX) -- NX CMM Inspection Programming, the latest addition to the NX part manufacturing software, delivers reductions in inspection programming time as high as 80 percent and ensures fast responses to design changes.

The off-line inspection programming application works in the context of a 3-D solid model environment that includes the coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and the part. Driven by automation, inspection features and probing paths are generated directly and automatically from the product and manufacturing information (PMI) data attached to the 3-D design model. Integration with Teamcenter software ensures that the correct revisions of parts are programmed and executed on the shop floor.

The application is complete with simulation and collision avoidance to help validate CMM programming decisions, and machine and probe library content to significantly improve CMM programming efficiency. Inspection programs automatically update to CAD model design changes. Programs are output in the DMIS format. Custom postprocessors can also be created for specific CMM languages.
