(Intertek: Houston) -- Intertek, an international provider of quality and safety services, announces that it is the third certification body accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to provide third-party certification to IECQ QC 080000, the international specification for hazardous substance process management (HSPM) systems.
QC 080000 introduces a process approach for manufacturers of electrical and electronic products and components to provide record of compliance with both global hazardous substance-control directives and customer-specific requirements. The specification can be integrated seamlessly into any existing quality management system (QMS), helping manufacturers ensure that all departments or business units within the organization have a part in controlling hazardous substances.
Intertek has provided global audit and certification services for IECQ QC 080000 since 2006, when it was recognized as a certification body by the Electronic Components Certification Board (ECCB). The ANAB accreditation, effective Aug. 5, 2010, provides added assurance to Intertek customers that the company’s HSPM certification program meets internationally recognized standards.
Intertek’s HSPM program is part of an extensive Green Services portfolio that offers complete solutions addressing global, regional, and local compliance and chemical safety built on sound traceability systems. Intertek’s suite of services supports implementation of company-specific, regulatory, and customer-driven policies.
“Growing ‘green’ regulations from governments around the world are now accompanied by increased customer preference for environmentally-friendly business practices on all levels of a process,” says Calin Moldovean, president of Intertek. With accredited third-party QC 080000 certification from Intertek, manufacturers can provide these stakeholders and customers with independent assurance that they have effective processes in place to address the impact they have on the environment.”
