IAAR Approves RABQSA

The Independent Association of Accredited Registrars recently approved RABQSA International Inc.—an accredited personnel and training certification body—as its newest member.
The IAAR is an association of accredited management system registrars that operate in North America to promote the establishment and maintenance of North American management systems through accredited registration. Before it evolved into RABQSA in 2005, the Registrar Accreditation Board—then an accreditation body as well as a certification body—had been a member of the IAAR for many years. After RAB split into ANAB (the U.S. accreditation body) and RABQSA (the international personnel certification body), RABQSA was no longer eligible for IAAR membership, reports Michael Carmody, RABQSA president and CEO.
RABQSA has maintained an informal relationship with the IAAR and participated in several key IAAR meetings and projects. RABQSA petitioned the IAAR in July 2006 to expand its constitution in a manner that would make it eligible for IAAR membership, says Carmody.
