(BSI: Reston, VA) -- The British Standards Institution (BSI) announces its next webinar, “The Value of an Environmental Management System,” which will be held Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. EDT. Drawing from the analysis of auditors’ field observations, this one-hour, free webinar will examine the most commonly identified issues in environmental management system (EMS) audits and offer insights to improve environmental management performance.

Athough being environmentally responsible is the “right” thing to do, this webinar will demonstrate how an EMS can directly benefit organizations by controlling risk and raising the bottom line. Whether a company is actively maintaining an EMS or is considering implementing one, understanding the intent of the requirements in the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) EMS standard, ISO 14001, is the first step to unlocking its potential.
Though the economy is beginning to recover, pressures will continue within organizations to control costs. An EMS can provide a business with a framework for managing environmental responsibilities and costs efficiently, integrating requirements into the company’s overall business operation.
Presenting the webinar is Denise Wecker-Seipke, EHS technical manager for BSI, responsible for interpretation of standards, regulations, and accreditation body requirements. Educated at Michigan State University, Dept. of Extension Education, she is a specialist in the integration of management systems.
