Body
(BearingPoint Inc.: McLean, Virginia) -- BearingPoint Inc., a management and technology consulting firm, has been awarded a blanket purchase agreement to provide advisory and assistance services for the United States Air Force’s Smart Operations for the 21st Century program (AFSO21), including the use of lean and Six Sigma tools. The Lean Six Sigma BPA spans five years with an award ceiling of $99 million.
AFSO21 is the key strategy to guide continuous process improvement that allows the Air Force to continue evolving while meeting the critical needs demanded by the current situation. The AFSO21 program applies lean Six Sigma principles from the corporate world to Air Force organizations, structure and processes to help identify and eliminate wastes of time, manpower and money.

By leveraging their current systems-integration capabilities, BearingPoint’s scope of work for the Air Force will include assisting in fully integrating continuous process improvement (CPI) practices, driving institutionalization of AFSO21 and creating self-sufficiency by providing training and education throughout the Air Force, primarily through the use of the lean management process toolset.
