Bank of America’s employees were recognized for their Six Sigma achievements at the bank’s annual Best of Six Sigma Expo held in Charlotte, North Carolina. Bank of America implemented Six Sigma in 2001, which has helped the bank reap about $2 billion in revenue gains and cost saving. Its goal is to contribute about $1 billion per year toward the company’s revenue growth and expense-reduction efforts. In addition, Six Sigma helped Bank of America reap a record $14.1 in profits last year. More than 5,000 employees have earned Green or Black Belts, or other related certifications.
The expo included booths highlighting some of the bank’s most successful Six Sigma projects. Among them was a project that’s expected to save $3.5 million a year by reducing the number of fraudulent transactions using PIN numbers. Another booth underscored the use of Six Sigma during Bank of America’s acquisition of FleetBoston Financial Corp.
As many as 1,500 employees and vendors attended the expo at the Charlotte Marriott Center City. Bank of America is second-largest bank in the United States. It has offices in 29 U.S. states and 35 countries, supporting clients across 150 countries.
