Two research companies are partnering to discover the real reasons professionals quit their jobs, and they’re asking for your help.dxResearch and The Benchmarking Exchange report that the purpose of the study is to benchmark the nature and degree of dissatisfaction with an organization that results in voluntary termination. Exit interviews, they note, are generally not good indicators of an employee’s decision to quit, because of the inherent social-desirability bias in them. “When people want something they try to put a good foot forward, or want to be seen in a good light,” says George Chynoweth, dxResearch founder and principal. “During an exit interview, the person probably wants a good reference and may not be willing to talk about any systemic problems within the organization.”
The survey is open to any organization wishing to participate. All responses are kept confidential, and organizations won’t be identified as a participant to others. The data will be used in a detailed report that will be sent to participating organizations within 30 days of the survey’s end on July 25.
