(NeoMetrix: Lake Mary, FL) -- NeoMetrix Technologies Inc., experts in 3-D scanning, reverse engineering, first-article inspection, and rapid prototyping services, has developed some new techniques to take advantage of laser-based 3-D measurement equipment from Konica-Minolta and Creaform.

Konica-Minolta’s Range 7 3-D laser scanner is very accurate but is limited to scanning a relatively small area in one pass. Creaform’s C-Track optical tracking system, on the other hand, can capture a large set of retro-reflective targets, although with less accuracy than the Range 7. However, the retro-reflective targets can be recognized by the Range 7 scanner, which allows automatic alignment of smaller, high-accuracy data sets for the global coordinate system established by the C-Track.

By combining these different technologies, Neometrix engineers can take advantage of the high-accuracy of the Range 7 and the large-area mapping of the C-Track for applications that require a large-area scan with high detail and accuracy. The result is flexibility, accuracy, and speedy service that’s passed on to NeoMetrix customers.
