Body
The Automotive Industry Action Group recently created a guideline to help automotive supply chains gain maximum value from problem-solving processes and improvement opportunities, regardless of what methodology or concept is used. AIAG’s Effective Problem Solving is a consensus of methodologies and concepts used by original equipment manufacturers and supply chain professionals. It’s been endorsed by the purchasing vice presidents of DaimlerChrysler AG, Ford Motor Co., and General Motors Corp. Effective problem solving, reports the guide, begins with three things: culture change, a collaborative and effective process, and suggested reporting formats. The guide discusses these elements, along with problem-solving process steps and recommended skills and tools.

The 200-page guide is available to AIAG members for $24. For nonmembers, the price is $41. For more information, visit www.aiag.org.
