(AIAG: Detroit) -- For the first time in the association’s history, the Automotive Industry Action Group has appointed a tier-two supplier to the board of directors. Specialty Products joined the board effective Sept. 11, 2007.

“Specialty Products brings a new perspective to the AIAG board as a voice and representation for our lower tier supplier members,” says Brian Vautaw, AIAG board chairman. “It demonstrates AIAG’s commitment to developing global industry-wide consensus to resolve supply chain issues.”

An AIAG member since 1998, Specialty Products designs and manufactures automotive suspension parts and tools. Acting as the company’s representative to the AIAG board is Mina Cox, chief operating officer and part owner.

“Smaller businesses are an integral part of the supply chain,” says Cox. “Having a seat on the board lends the lower tier suppliers more influence on AIAG initiatives and offers fresh insight on how to drive better ways of doing things in the industry.”

“Mina’s expertise in both the automotive and high-tech industries will provide valuable insight into AIAG’s strategic direction and initiatives,” Vautaw adds.
