Let’s imagine that, because we move to a different city to keep our job, we want to buy or rent a small flat, and that the landlord is astute enough to put us to a test. If we pass it, the sales price or the rent rate will be discounted by 10 percent; if we don’t pass, the flat will remain at market price.

The test is quite simple: Since the landlord is quite a cleanliness maniac, we’re asked to create a floor-sweeping and -mopping process, based on the flat layout below, under the following conditions:
• The entrance must be accessible as much as possible
• We can’t sweep or wash the same area twice
• We must shift the movable furniture before cleaning, but it can’t be taken out of the flat or stored on the balcony
• We must create the route using only the flat layout and before we actually view the flat
