Opportunity looks an awful lot like hard work

I have thought much about the need to engage people, not just empower them. A man I admire and have known for years served as a volunteer in a leadership capacity in the church to which I belong. I had the opportunity to hear this successful businessperson speak many times, but one message in particular will remain with me forever.

Standing in front of a large congregation, he held up an Atomic Fire Ball and said, “I am fired up about the gospel of Jesus!” In the spirit of my friend’s message, my challenge to myself and all with whom I interact is to Fire up!

I love vocabulary and playing with words (think apothegm), so it shouldn’t be a surprise that I've turned “fire up” into an anagram.

F is for focus: The fastest way to achieve nothing is to try and do everything.
