Automotive wire harnesses are a central component of modern vehicles. Against the backdrop of developments such as the connected car and autonomous driving, the highest possible quality is essential. Since quality assurance is a complex and largely manual manufacturing process, the use of a specialized manufacturing execution system (MES) is important.

Digitization has long been an integral aspect of modern vehicle technology. With each successive model generation, the implementation of IT continues to rise. Vehicles are chock full of IT, from engine control systems to driver assistance systems to media centers. These developments are by no means nearing their peak.

A core element of vehicle IT is the wire harness. It acts as a backbone connecting the digital components to each other or to other components, such as the engine or chassis, and also supplies the various devices with electrical power.
