(Solartron Metrology: Bognor Regis, England) -- The Orbit 3 Network and digital products from Solartron Metrology offers improved accuracy to 0.05 percent of reading, and increased versatility vs. the Orbit 2 product line. The Orbit 3 controllers and modules are 30-percent lighter, offer improved clamping, and excellent vibration resistance. Together, they provide a complete dimensional measurement and data acquisition system with up to 200 probes on a single network.

The Orbit 3 controllers and modules perform measurement as well as some control functions and can be networked together into a highly versatile plug-and-go measurement system. In addition to interfacing with other Solartron products, the Orbit Network is able to host a variety of third-party sensors providing a complete dimensional measurement and data acquisition system.

The Orbit 3 can be hosted on a PC using the Orbit network card or be connected to a PLC via RS 232 interface and in the near future Ethernet module. With a range of single, dual, and multiple inputs, Orbit 3 digital readouts are available for output into a PC or PLC using RS 232.
