Body

(AirLoc: Franklin, MA) — Coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) are subject to floor disturbances from nearby production equipment, such as stamping presses, and forklift traffic, which affect the measuring accuracy of these sensitive machines. AirLoc provides isolation pad systems for smaller CMMs where more sophisticated active/pneumatic isolation systems are not cost effective. Typically pneumatic systems sell for $3,000 to $10,000 per machine. AirLoc passive pad systems are priced in the range of $200 to $500 per machine.

Recently, AirLoc sold two sets of B4 type pads to a tool manufacturer in Canada for smaller Brown & Sharpe CMMs. AirLoc received word that after installation: “Both sets are working very well. Our CMM room is 30 feet from a 600-ton capacity press and the vibration/noise has been sufficiently reduced to no longer be a significant contributor.”

Contact AirLoc engineering for a recommendation of a low frequency pad isolation system for your CMM, so it will measure up to specifications. Call (800) 922-3019 or (508) 528-0022 ext. 116, or visit www.airloc.com.
