InterTech Development Co. has released a new self-calibrating leak detection device than can achieve accuracies of 0.02 sccm (standard cubic centimeters per minute).

The new CalVal allows manufacturers to achieve high calibration standards without slowing production for time-consuming mechanical calibration. The automated device doesn’t require an operator and delivers six sigma-level repeatability and reproducibility levels. It is built around InterTech’s mass-flow sensing technology and can test volumes from less than 1 cc to more than 10 liters.

“At best, mechanical calibration methods can only achieve a repeatable and reproducible accuracy of 0.1 sccm,” says Jacque Hoffman, InterTech president and founder. “This is because conventional calibration methods have inherent limitations such as pneumatic valves and other moving parts that can stick or wear, as well as small gaps or orifices that are likely to change due to clogging.”

Intertech is on the Web at www.intertechdevelopment.com.
