B.C. MacDonald & Co., a provider of specialized cutting tools and gaging products, will open a new metrology center in September.

The new center will display more than $2 million worth of 3-D metrology and dimensional gaging equipment in Lisle, Illinois. Mahr Federal and Optical Gaging Products serve as the center’s main supplier partners.

In addition to offering the latest metrology and dimensional gaging technologies, the Metrology Center will offer on-site customer training and support of multisensor 3-D metrology systems, surface and form products, linear measurement systems, calibration systems, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and other metrology techniques.

“While there is a dramatic change occurring in the manufacturing sector, one fundamental remains the same: a manufacturer has to make the part to print specifications,” says Reggie MacDonald, president of B.C. MacDonald & Co. “Unfortunately, most manufacturers are operating with smaller staffs, and many of their newer employees simply don’t have the background necessary to operate or program the latest measurement system. There is a real opportunity for companies to improve the return on their metrology investment.”
