(AQSENSE: Girona, Spain) -- AQSENSE S.L. has released a new module for its 3-D Shape Analysis Library (SAL3D)—Area Tool—that automatically determines the volume of scanned objects at high speeds, thus enabling complete in-line measurements. SAL3D is the first hardware-independent software architecture for range map and point cloud processing, fully oriented to laser triangulation and 3-D machine vision applications.

AQSENSE’s flexible 3-D vision software library offers two functional configurations: the measurement of an area with respect to a reference line, and the measurement of closed profile areas. The first configuration makes use of a single-camera laser system and can be used for close-up measurement, for example, in food slicing. The closed profile configuration uses a multicamera laser system and analyzes the complete outline of a figure, allowing the measurement of any object while, for example, changing from one conveyor belt to another.
