(Laser Design Inc.: Minneapolis) -- York Technical College is a community college with associate degree and certificate programs. The Machine Tool Technology department has built a worldwide reputation for excellence on the merits of its 3-D center’s cutting-edge equipment and in-demand graduates. York was the first school in South Carolina to be accredited by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills. With more than 45,000 square feet the department housed in the Institute for Manufacturing Productivity is home to many 3-D measurement systems, including its new Laser Design SLP-250 laser scanner.

“We will use the Laser Design SLP-250 for many operations in our quality inspection lab,” says Tom Dickerson, manager of the Machine Tool Technology department. “We will be able to scan intricate parts and use the 3-D data in rapid prototyping, and also rapid manufacturing applications.”
