Solectron to Host Complimentary RoHS Seminar

Published: Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 23:00

Solectron Corp. will host an upcoming seminar on the effect of the restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) directive on American medical device makers.

RoHS is a European requirement that prohibits the marketing of electronic and electrical equipment that contains hazardous substances—such as lead, cadmium and mercury—in European Union countries. It affects medical device makers, as the prohibited materials are sometimes found in medical devices.

The complimentary seminar will be held online on Feb. 6 at 8 a.m. PST. It will discuss what medical device companies need to do to assure their RoHS compliance and their European market shares. Presenters include Dick Rubin, director of Solectron’s medical division; Natalie McKinsey, manager of Solectron’s global environmental division; David Castro, senior manager of the company’s global materials and component engineering; and Jasbir Bath, the company’s design and engineering lead process engineer.
