Thermo Fisher Scientific showcases advances in laboratory information management systems

Published: Tuesday, February 1, 2011 - 12:28

(Thermo  Fisher Scientific: Waltham, MA) -- Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a world leader in serving science, will showcase its new informatics offerings within booth No. 2835 at the annual conference and exposition on laboratory science, PITTCON, being held from March 13–18 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The significant and innovative advances in the new laboratory information management system (LIMS) solutions facilitate compliance with industry guidelines such as ISO 17025—“General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories” and other procedural requirements such as good manufacturing practices (GMP), while delivering time and cost savings to scientists and lab managers supporting  process industries.

In addition, the company will showcase a new feature-rich field solution that has been specifically developed for laboratory professionals working in water and environmental testing laboratories. The company will also exhibit its full range of informatics solutions, including LIMS, chromatography data systems, electronic laboratory notebooks, document management systems, and spectroscopy software.

During PITTCON 2011, Thermo Fisher will launch a new release of the company’s flagship laboratory data management solution designed for large-scale process and industrial laboratories. Developed to facilitate compliance with standards from the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) and good laboratory practice (GLP), the new solution combines more than 25 years of knowledge, experience, and customer input.

The company will also showcase a new LIMS solution for water and environmental applications. The solution is designed to help labs keep pace with the rapidly changing regulatory environment, including the Safe Drinking Water Act and the EPA’s Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Survey and Assessment. All of Thermo Fisher’s informatics solutions are designed to ease the burdens of regulatory compliance, and the company provides solutions across a broad range of global industries.

“With these new releases and our powerful portfolio of purpose-built products that span all industries, the informatics exhibit at PITTCON will demonstrate how we work with and enable our customers to automate and integrate their laboratory operations,” says Dave Champagne, vice president and general manager for the informatics business at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “From managing samples and resources to cost-effectively capturing and analyzing quality data, providing essential reports and ensuring regulatory compliance, no other company offers the breadth of solutions and depth of industry experience across the full spectrum of laboratory software applications, from small single-purpose laboratories to complex integrations across global enterprises.”

In addition to showcasing its informatics offerings during PITTCON 2011, Thermo Fisher Scientific will exhibit a wide range of industry-leading instrumentation and services designed to facilitate the efficiency of complex workflow and processes.
