There are TV shows about it. Thousands of professionals are hired every year for the sole purpose of taking it away. Most people hate it but find a hard time getting rid of it. What am I talking about? Clutter!

Even though the show Hoarders exemplifies the clutter problem to the extreme, most of us, if we were being honest, would say we hold on to more stuff than we need. In this era of consumerism, we are constantly told by expert marketers that more is good. You don’t have to listen. This spring, take a stand against clutter, in both your home and your mind.

Project Declutter. Have you ever had every intention of doing spring cleaning, but the results you imagined never quite materialized? That’s because intentions are not a plan. Seventy-five percent of all projects fail due to poor project management. Use the project manager skills you’ve honed at work to tackle your spring-cleaning tasks at home. Define what deliverables you’d like to result and what success will look like when you achieve it. When you think of de-clutter goals like the project targets you set for your job, your chances of success significantly increase.
