The U.S. Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) will install a Mitutoyo coordinate measuring machine in its metrology research and development department. Naval officers chose the Mitutoyo Legex 12128, a high-accuracy device that exceeds the manufacturer’s published probing performance specifications. The largest of the Navy’s five systems commands, NAVSEA engineers, builds and supports the military’s fleet of ships and combat systems. It accounts for nearly one-fifth of the Navy’s budget (approximately $20 billion) and manages more than 130 acquisition programs.
NAVSEA customers include the federal departments of labor, commerce and energy, Defense Logistics Agency, Federal Aviation Administration, the U.S. Postal Service, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the U.S. Air Force Missile Defense Agency, among others.
Mitutoyo is a global metrology company with a network spanning more than 22 countries. It provides measurement equipment, training programs, product and application support, calibrations services, repair and metrology resource centers worldwide.
