(Brunson: Kansas City, MO) -- Breast cancer caused 685,000 deaths worldwide in 2020. In the United States, 2023 is likely to see approximately 300,000 new cases, and estimates indicate 44,000 women will die from breast cancer in the U.S. this year. In half the cases globally, women diagnosed with breast cancer had zero identifiable risk factors for this disease.

Early diagnosis, increased awareness, and more effective treatments have driven an overall decline of 43% in breast cancer deaths since 1989. Around the world, research into the causes of breast cancer continues diligently.

However, research, awareness and diagnostic processes take resources.
