(Direct Dimensions Inc.: Baltimore) -- Direct Dimensions, a cutting-edge 3-D imaging technology firm, ranked number 2,633 by Inc. magazine on its fourth-annual “Inc. 5000” list, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The Inc. list represents the most comprehensive census of the most important segment of the U.S. economy—its entrepreneurial-based small businesses. Direct Dimensions also earned Inc. 5000 recognition on the 2009 list.

“The Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2006 through 2009,” says Inc. president Bob LaPointe. “The leaders of the companies on this year's Inc. 5000 have figured out how to grow their businesses during the longest recession since the Great Depression. The 2010 Inc. 5000 showcases a particularly hardy group of entrepreneurs.”

Founded in 1995, an early leader in the 3-D imaging field, Direct Dimensions provides 3-D measurement services and products to a wide variety of industries. Recognizing the potential for 3-D imaging, founder and CEO Michael Raphael led the company on through the extensive evolutions in 3-D technology through the years maintaining leading skill-sets to meet the growing demand from the widening applications.

Today, Direct Dimensions lists among its customers major museums and artists, such as the National Gallery of Art, MoMA, and Jeff Koons, medical institutions such as Johns Hopkins and Walter Reed, industrial heavy weights such as Harley Davidson, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and other diverse organizations such as the National Park Service, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and the FBI.

As 3-D becomes more accessible with our world growing increasingly virtual, Raphael says that Direct Dimensions is uniquely positioned to grow with what he sees as a 3-D imaging explosion. “We've stayed ahead of the 3-D curve through our 15 years,” he says. “It is exciting to see our once-niche industry just come into its own. Within the next few years we believe that 3-D imaging will change the way we learn, explore, shop, and interact online. We very much look forward to riding this new 3-D wave and feel well-poised for growth.”
