Labels are a primary way to share product information in a manufacturing organization. They identify items or item-related attributes, and they also may represent externalized data from a database. Labels can be formatted to be read solely by people, or solely by scanners. Some labels serve both requirements. It’s hard to imagine any aspect of the manufacturing value chain with more visibility or importance than labels.
