Event: The Institute of Internal Auditors International Conference

“Auditing Through Leadership” Atlanta, June 6–9

(IIA: Altamonte Springs, FL) -- The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is bringing a world-class conference to the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on June 6–9. Guaranteed to be the year’s largest gathering of internal auditing practitioners, the 2010 International Conference will focus on “Auditing Through Leadership (ATL).” It features an unprecedented number of concurrent sessions on today’s top issues, industry best practices, and unique challenges to help add organizational value; a hands-on exhibit hall filled with the latest tools, techniques, products, and services; and receptions and networking opportunities that will make this ATL experience memorable for years to come. 

Keynote speakers

• Carol Tomé, CFO and executive vice president of corporate services for Home Depot
• Zanny Minton-Beddoes, The Economist’s U.S. economics editor
• Harry Markopolos, the financial analyst who first uncovered Bernie Madoff and the world’s largest Ponzi scheme
• Mark Sanborn, CSP, CPAE, and president of Sanborn & Associates Inc., an idea studio dedicated to developing leaders in business and in life

Program tracks

Governance—Sessions will cover current and future governance practices, as well as the role of internal auditing in assessing the effectiveness of governance.

Risk Management—Sessions will cover emerging global risk management guidance, ERM implementation in both the early and mature stages, and internal audit’s roles in providing risk management assurance.

Compliance—Sessions will cover leading governance, risk and compliance (GRC) practices and enabling tools, as well as assessing compliance and ethics programs and the overall ethical culture.

Fraud prevention and detection—Sessions will cover characteristics of fraudsters, as well as leading prevention, detection, and investigation practices.

Information technology hot topics—Sessions will cover IT governance, risk, compliance, hacking, IT auditing, and other IT hot topics.

Leading internal audit practices—Sessions will cover new and creative practices that can help internal auditors be successful and add value.

Tools for effective internal auditing—Sessions cover software and other tools that can help in performing data analysis and continuous auditing.

Internal auditor skills and capabilities—Sessions will cover skills and competencies that will help internal auditors enhance both their own audit skills as well as increasing the capabilities of their internal audit function.

Leadership—Sessions will cover the characteristics of successful leaders and how internal auditors can enhance their own leadership capabilities.

Emerging global issues—Sessions will cover new and emerging global issues, such as social responsibility, climate change, IFRS implementation, and the future of internal auditing.

Public sector—Sessions will cover strategies and techniques to improving internal auditing in the public sector.

Other unique topics—Sessions will cover topics from a variety of areas, including eDiscovery, conflict management, and more.

Chief audit executive (CAE) virtual track—Attend sessions on a variety of hot topics and subjects presented by leading industry practitioners. The CAE Virtual Track includes sessions from every track topic with several options during each concurrent session window ideal for the audit executive.

Financial services auditors (FSA) virtual track—Sessions include hot topics on IFRS, information technology, fraud detection and prevention, and more.

 

Inside International Video Series

The Inside International Video Series provides insight into conference sessions directly from the session speakers. Each video contains details about a speaker’s session, the session’s takeaways, and the benefits of attending the conference.
