This Baldrige-based award focuses on education and economic development rather than competition. Four levels of awards are possible: Quality Interest, Quality Commitment, the Excellence Award and the Governor's Award. Companies at all levels of quality achievement are encouraged to apply; any public or privately held organization of any size located in the state of Mississippi is eligible.

The Baldrige-based Missouri Quality Award is designed to stimulate continuous improvement in the quality of products and services, customer satisfaction and global competitiveness. The categories vary slightly from the Baldrige, as listed below. Missouri also has a recognition for teams in the Missouri Team Quality Award and at the individual level with the Governor's Quality Leadership Award.

Categories: Profit and nonprofit manufacturing, service, education, health care and public-sector organizations can apply to one of three categories: small (fewer than 100 employees), medium (100-499 employees) and large (500 or more employees).

In addition, awards may be presented for excellence in any of the seven Baldrige categories, and level awards recognizing companies at different stages of their quality journey.

The New Jersey Governor's Award for Performance Excellence has three   recognition approaches: Interest in Performance Excellence, an examiner- facilitated self-assessment; Involvement in Performance Excellence, an internal organizational self-assessment; and Progress to Performance Excellence, a mini-application and examiner-assessed approach. Award levels include the Governor's Award for Performance Excellence at the gold, silver and bronze levels for overall excellence; and the Areas of Excellence awards for excellence in operations, marketplace and work force. All New Jersey organizations are eligible.

This award began as a U.S. Senate Productivity Award in 1988. Since 1994, the New Mexico Quality Awards have used Baldrige criteria. Applicants compete against award criteria, with no limit to the number of winners.

The Governor's Award For Excellence represents the highest form of recognition for performance excellence and quality in New York State. The ESA Program registers organizations as Empire State Gold or Empire State Silver after certifying their management systems' soundness and effectiveness against the management standards found in the program's     criteria.

Schedule: The award cycle runs once a year and concludes in late spring; the ESA program runs in three cycles throughout the year.

 

North Carolina

This award uses Baldrige-based award criteria and training materials. The commitment level evaluates a basic, critical subset of the criteria. The advancement level evaluates an intermediate subset of the criteria and the leadership level evaluates the complete criteria. Subsidiaries and divisions may apply.

This award recognizes teamwork and employee involvement activities in quality processes in manufacturing. Participating teams make presentations demonstrating their use of quality tools and processes. Projects are evaluated against a set of criteria representing   the standard elements of any quality process.

The Oklahoma Quality Award has no limit on awards given in a category. The award has three levels-commitment, achievement and excellence. To be eligible, an organization must have operated in Oklahoma for three years, and its major business function must be verified in Oklahoma.

Wyoming State Quality Award

The Wyoming State Quality Award is based on the Baldrige. Applications are scored on four main items: leadership, human resource development and management, customer satisfaction and results. Applicants receive a feedback report and an award based on their application score: certificate, amethyst, sapphire, ruby, jade and diamond.
