(Geomagic: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina) -- Geomagic will demonstrate Geomagic Qualify 10, new computer-aided inspection software for users of multisensor metrology systems, at CMSC 2008 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Geomagic is exhibiting in booth No. 308.
Geomagic Qualify 10 streamlines workflow, improves alignment accuracy, and provides comprehensive inspection coverage for users who want to take advantage of the combined strengths of 3-D scanners and hard probes. A single interface enables users to perform a complete inspection of every type of shape and feature that characterizes an object, saving time and increasing inspection accuracy.New capabilities in Geomagic Qualify 10 enable users to quickly detect and inspect geometrical features such as points, holes, slots, cones, cylinders, planes, and spheres. The software automates feature creation and tasks such as calculating size, analyzing fit, comparing 2-D and 3-D features, and measuring point-to-point and feature-to-feature distances and angles. A new streamlined feature framework enables users to more efficiently analyze, measure, and report dimensional characteristics and fitting statistics of geometrical features.
The new hard probing and 3-D feature capabilities in Geomagic Qualify 10 are fully integrated with functions such as alignment, GD&T, and 2-D and 3-D dimensioning that are popular with users of 3-D scanning systems that generate dense point clouds.
Geomagic Qualify 10 supports 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. The 64-bit edition of Geomagic Qualify 10 enables users to take advantage of the expanded memory capacity of 64-bit computer systems to process huge datasets generated by the newest generation of noncontact 3-D scanners.
“Geomagic Qualify 10 will allow us to take advantage of the best features of hard probes and 3-D scanners while maintaining a single, intuitive workflow,” says Rus Emerick, a process improvement specialist who has helped Schneider-Electric automate inspection across 206 manufacturing operations in 130 countries. “The 3-D feature capabilities in Geomagic Qualify 10 will close the 3-D digital loop. We’ll be able to do everything—design, engineer, and inspect—within a 3-D environment.”
“With the new hard probing features in Qualify 10, we can now align the part much faster and with confidence,” says Sman Hansrisuk, a reverse-engineering specialist at TurboCare, a worldwide leader in providing integrated aftermarket solutions. “We can also measure prismatic features with a probe just like in conventional CMM. I have no doubts that the new features in Geomagic Qualify 10 will help us gain significant productivity.”
Geomagic Qualify 10 ships with both 32- and 64-bit editions on the CD, and supports English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese languages. Customers with active maintenance can download the Qualify 10 upgrade from Geomagic’s portal https://portal.geomagic.com.
Geomagic Qualify takes advantage of digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP) to enable fast, easy-to-understand graphical comparisons between CAD models and as-built parts. It’s used worldwide to save time and increase accuracy for first-article inspection, inline or shop-floor inspection, material release order, trend analysis, 2-D and 3-D dimensioning, and automated reporting. Geomagic Qualify is certified by PTB, ANFIA, and major customers such as Honeywell, Fiat, General Motors, and Pratt & Whitney.
Geomagic simplifies digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP) for more than 6,000 professionals in industries such as automotive, aerospace, medical devices, and consumer products. The company’s products and services are used to enable mass customization with the same efficiency and cost as mass production, improve dental care with individually designed devices, speed time-to-market for consumer products, automate inspection for better quality in dramatically less time, increase safety for NASA shuttle missions, and optimize design for everything from racing cars to blimps. Geomagic has subsidiaries in Europe and Asia, and distributors worldwide.
