On Dec. 21, 2010, the U.S. Congress passed the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, the first major food safety measure in the United States in more than 60 years. “America already has one of the safest food supplies in the world, but 48 million people in the U.S. still get sick, and several thousand die each year from food-borne illness,” says William Nganje, associate professor at the Morrison School of Agribusiness and Management at the W. Nganje is well-known for his research on food safety and food defense risk management.
