CLS Series for Packaged Products

(Mettler-Toledo: Aurora, IL) -- Mettler-Toledo CI-Vision, a leader in the design, manufacture, and installation of machine vision inspection systems for the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, packaging, personal care, and household chemical industries, has launched its new CLS Series for packaged products, designed to accurately verify and inspect labels and printing for seal integrity at high throughput speeds. The CLS allows continuous, high-speed imaging of food packaging for comprehensive, fully automated inspection, for correct labeling of product weight, pricing, and other information. This minimizes instances of label mix ups. The CLS Series guarantees due diligence through traceability throughout the supply chain, and enhances productivity for food manufacturers by automating label inspection. It also ensures compliance with food labeling initiatives pertaining to consumer food product information.

The CLS Series features Linescan Technology, which consists of a single row of pixel sensors rather than a traditional digital camera lens. The technology captures highly accurate images of food products while processing data at high throughput speeds. This enables manufacturers to inspect individual packages for correct information and positioning, as well as seal integrity, without reducing production speeds. The CLS verifies top and bottom labels simultaneously, and its cameras adjust for products ranging from 25 mm to 100 mm in height, ensuring optimum inspection regardless of package size.

To minimize production downtime due to maintenance and product changeovers, the CLS features a user-friendly touch screen that allows for easy setup. The system also features preset label recipes containing weight, pricing, and other product information, facilitating quick product changeovers and optimizing flexibility on food packaging lines. Each CLS comes with an optional automatic reject system that can be customized according to product and packaging type for quick and reliable removal of substandard products from the production process.
