(URAC: Washington) -- As part of its commitment to a comprehensive review of its standards, URAC, the nation’s leading health care accreditation and education organization, recently called for public comment on revisions to its suite of Pharmacy Quality Management Accreditation programs. URAC welcomes purchasers, policy makers, consumers, health care management organizations, pharmacy organizations, and health plans to review the revised standards and new performance measures and provide feedback now through March 23.

“Prescription drug costs make up 20 percent of every health care dollar spent in the United States. When providers embrace independent accreditation, consumers have an assurance that these dollars are being spent wisely,” says Alan P. Spielman, president and CEO of URAC. “We’ve also added performance measures to several of the standards to provide even greater transparency and accountability.”
