The Society of Automotive Engineers will dedicate the DTI-SAE Global Knowledge Center at Tsinghua University in Beijing with a formal signing ceremony and reception on June 15.
A cooperative effort between SAE International and the Delphi Tsinghua Institute, the Global Knowledge Center will make the full range of SAE technical information and services including books, technical papers, standards, and engineering education and training programs available to China’s automotive community.
As part of the dedication, SAE will announce the availability of an inaugural series of four SAE automotive engineering seminars to be held from Aug. 30 to Sept. 3. The four seminars in the inaugural series include: Gear System Design and Analysis; Technical Survey of Modern Vehicle Transmission Systems; Design for Manufacture and Assembly; and Automotive Engineering Project Management.
SAE and its partners in China are developing plans to increase the number of training programs available, as well as the number of training locations in China. "SAE training will bring a new dimension of contemporary, practitioner education programs intended to supplement and build upon the excellent training available through China’s universities," says Duane Tiede, SAE’s 2004 president.
"One of the society’s primary goals is to provide capable practitioners to the mobility industries in order to prepare for future advancement," continues Tiede. "Delphi is an ideal partner for us to ensure the DTI-SAE Global Knowledge Center will be a big step in moving China with some strong momentum into the realm of a worldwide automotive force. Chinese industry and the Chinese quality of life in the future depend on having technically prepared Chinese engineers and executives ready to make their industry thrive for the long term."
