These courses, to be held at DeFelsko’s headquarters in Ogdensburg, New York, provide comprehensive training on the principles and practices of coating inspection. 

Protective Coatings Inspector Program Workshop

This one-day workshop teaches the proper methods of equipment use for inspecting surface preparation and installation of industrial and marine protective coatings and lining systems on an array of industrial structures and facilities.
When: Nov. 3, 2016
Registration deadline: Oct. 12, 2016
Cost: $395 for SSPC members, $595 for nonmembers
Credits: 0.7 CEU

Using SSPC PA2 Effectively

This half-day workshop summarizes and explains the key highlights of SSPC PA 2—“Measurement of dry coating thickness with magnetic gages.” Attendees will learn to verify the accuracy of a dry film thickness magnetic gauge; measure the dry film thickness of a coating with Type 1 or Type 2 gauge; and describe and implement the procedure to determine if the film thickness in a given area conforms to the maximum and minimum levels specified. Includes a course exam.
When: Nov. 11, 2016

Protective Coatings Inspector Program

Level 1
This five-day course thoroughly trains attendees in the proper methods of inspecting surface preparation and installation of industrial and marine protective coatings and lining systems on an array of industrial structures and facilities. Attendees should be prepared for an intense and fast-paced week of training with evening study to cover an extensive amount of information. Includes a course exam.
When: Dec. 5–9, 2016
Registration deadline: Nov. 14, 2016
Cost: $995 for SSPC members, $1,195 for nonmembers
Credits: 4.5 CEUs

Level 2
This six-day course thoroughly trains attendees in the proper methods of inspecting surface preparation and installation of industrial and marine protective coatings and lining systems on an array of industrial structures and facilities. Attendees should be prepared for an intense and fast-paced week of training with evening study to cover an extensive amount of information. The Protective Coatings Inspector (PCI) program meets the requirements of ASTM D 3276, the IMO Performance Standard for Protective Coatings, and the International Association of Classification Societies’ (IACS) Common Structural Rules (CSR). Includes a course exam and a certification exam.
When: Dec. 5–10, 2016
Registration deadline: Nov. 14, 2016
Cost: $1,395 for SSPC members, $1,595 for nonmembers
Credits: 4.5 CEUs

Level 3
This half-day exam identifies and awards recognition to individuals who have in-depth knowledge in the principles and practices of inspection of industrial coatings. Students passing the PCI Level 2 exams at 80 percent or higher and meet the prerequisites for PCI Level 3 certification can take the PCI Level 3 certification exam on day seven. A passing grade of 80 percent or higher on the written PCI Level 3 certification exam is required to become an SSPC PCI Level 3-certified coating inspector.

Registration deadline: Nov. 20, 2016
Cost: $500 for SSPC members, $700 for nonmembers
