From our distinguished white paper presentations to the Exhibition Hall packed with state-of-the-art 3D metrology technologies, the Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference always delivers a world class learning experience for our visitors each year. This five-day event is where metrologists, scientists, manufacturers, service providers, software developers, teachers and students gather to network and explore the very latest in portable 3D inspection and measurement solutions. Here are some of this year's highlights:

Outstanding Technical Presentations and White papers
Once again, CMSC brings together a prestigious group of international experts in the field of metrology. This year, presenters from eight countries covering three continents will be gathering to discuss their latest developments in research and applications. Topics range from the inspection of crank shafts to the dimensional documentation of the historic artifact, the USS Monitor's Dahgren Gun, to the integration of metrology techniques into manufacturing processes, such as turbine blade manufacturing, fuselage trimming and drilling, or the alignment of telescope components.
Informative Seminars, Panel Discussion, and CMSC Committee Updates
Fresh and informative seminars, committee updates, and a panel discussion are scheduled for the 2009 Conference. A Metrology Systems Fundamentals Workshop will split the group into four various technologies for an overview of the workings of each technology (white light scanners, photogrammetry, articulated arms and laser trackers). The much anticipated Metrology Certification Seminar and Workshop will present results compiled from survey responses and committee input for a body of knowledge for metrology certification. The Dimensional Metrology Standardization Consortium will be represented by Ray Admire who will discuss the need to for standardization. And finally a Panel Discussion on "When Coordinate Metrology Becomes Micro-Geodesy?" will surely provoke some thought stimulation on the topic.
A Packed Exhibit Hall with Portable Metrology Hardware, Software, and Service Providers
More than 20,000 square feet of the Marriott Ballroom will house exhibitors and CMSC Partner Organizations. The Exhibitors will display their latest developments, and stand ready for one-on-one consultations for individual needs assessment.
Knowledge Networking
For CMSC attendees, networking with other attendees and exhibitors is one of the biggest assets of the conference. Many opportunities are provided for large and small group discussions where employer labels are dropped and common technical goals are discussed. Join us at CMSC, the only event where an in-person review of all portable metrology providers is to the benefit of the
attendee!
CMSC Friday Tour on July 24th: Churchill Downs and Historic Bardstown
Friday winds down the Conference week with a full-day educational tour with a real taste of Kentucky. Tour attendees will leave the hotel by bus and travel to the world famous Churchill Downs, the "Home of the Kentucky Derby". At the Kentucky Derby Museum, you will experience all the sights and sounds of the Kentucky Derby as you watch the 360-degree panoramic presentation, "The Greatest Race". On the outside track tour, you will hear the facts and folklore that make the Kentucky Derby the greatest two minutes in sports.
Then the tour continues on to Bardstown, Kentucky, the heart of Kentucky's Bourbon Trail. You'll stop for lunch at the historic Talbott Tavern, which has provided shelter, food and drink to Kentucky travelers since the late 1700's. Talbott Tavern is said to be the oldest western stagecoach stop in America as the westward expansion brought explorers from the east into the bluegrass state. Famous Americans from Abraham Lincoln to General George Patton are said to have stayed at the Tavern. After lunch, the excursion will continue on to the Heaven Hill Heritage Center for a full tour. The tour price is $66 per person including a full southern style lunch.
