The university has created a new Office for Performance Improvement. Under the leadership of Jeffrey Luftig, they have in a very short time achieved some big breakthroughs in improving cost and quality, with very high visibility within the university and beyond. There is a huge demand for their services that cannot be met with current resources.
The Office for Performance Improvement is looking for one or two candidates as lead project consultants who see saving public higher education as a mission, who have experience with deploying strategic plans throughout an organization, consistent with Deming’s approach, and who are willing to learn what is necessary to deploy the service performance model used at Colorado University. More details about the job as well as how to apply can be found at www.jobsatcu.com/postings/77491.
Higher education across the United States is in a largely unpublicized crisis, and Colorado is in the worst position of all the states. Within about five to 10 years, the state of Colorado will be sending essentially no money to its state institutes of higher learning.
There may be nothing we can do about that, but we can help out those institutions.
