Productivity Inc. to Teach Lean Management Master’s Degree

Company expands its role at Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business.

(Productivity Inc.: Shelton, CT) -- Productivity Inc., an international consulting and training firm delivering leading-edge lean implementation strategies, has broadened its participation in lean teaching through a unique and topical program offered at Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business.

Ellis New, a senior management consultant with Productivity Inc., will be an instructor in the college’s Master of Business Operational Excellence (MBOE), the first of its kind in the nation and an innovative program that prepares high-potential managers for leadership in the emerging, rapid, and continuous improvement lean environment found in leading service and manufacturing companies. Today, lean thinking is spreading to companies and organizations in every industry and in nations around the world, where business leaders are adopting lean tools and principles well beyond manufacturing.

Expanding a role and opportunities

Participation in the MBOE program expands Productivity’s role in lean management at Ohio State. Nearly 10 years ago, Productivity Inc. and the Fisher College of Business co-developed a program unlike any other, the Lean Manager Certification Program (LMAC). The program is designed for middle and top-level executives seeking the essential knowledge necessary to drive lean throughout their entire organization. This highly interactive and fully accredited program spanning four nonconsecutive weeks teaches a carefully sequenced arrangement of lean concepts and tools. In between the weeks of training, students need to apply the methods that they have learned in operations at their own companies and present their results to the class.

The Lean Manager Certification Program was the first of its kind in the United States, and it continues to rank as one of the most viable and effective programs available today.

“Now we have an opportunity to enhance the LMAC program with our year-long MBOE program, both of which are designed to create lean thought leaders with a bias for action. Graduates will help lead their organizations to achieve the high level of operational excellence that a successful future requires,” says Peter Ward, Richard M. Moss chair in Management at the Fisher College of Business.

Productivity combines consulting with teaching

Productivity’s Ellis New will be expanding his teaching duties at Fisher College of Business. In his role with Productivity, New specializes in organizational change through results-based consulting and training, with the goal of enabling organizations to compete successfully in  domestic and global markets. He has worked directly with originators and implementers of nationally and internationally recognized improvement strategies, has presented at national and regional conferences, and is an instructor in the Productivity/Ohio State University Lean Manager Certification Program.
