Product News: DMSC Introduces New DMIS Standard

30% off for 30 days on all versions of the standard

(DMSC Inc.: Arlington, TX) -- To introduce the new Dimensional Measuring Inspection Standard (DMIS 5.2) to the world’s metrology community, the Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC) is offering a special  discount of 30 percent off for both CDs and downloads of the standard. This 30-day special offer will begin March 15 and will continue until April 15.

This 30-percent discount is extended to all versions of the standard on the DMIS web site at www.dmisstandard.org for those who feel they do not need the more advanced capabilities.

The normal price for DMIS 5.2 is $265 CD or download. For this limited time the price will be 30 percent off or $185.50 (plus shipping and handling for the CD). The DMIS 5.2 document contains 730 pages, therefore hardcopies are not included in this offer.

To view all products go to the DMIS web site’s standards page by clicking here.

The DMIS is a language for the correct, complete, and unambiguous description of computer-executable dimensional measurement part programs and measurement results. The standard defines a neutral language for communication between information systems and dimensional measurement equipment (DME). DMIS is an execution language for measurement part programs and provides an exchange format for metrology data such as features, tolerances, and measurement results. DMIS conveys the product and equipment definitions along with the process and reporting information necessary to perform dimensional measurements that employ coordinate metrology.

Also, the Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium is offering the DMIS 5.2 / I++DME Training Workshop, April 19–22, at the Brighton, Michigan facility of Nikon (formerly Metris - USA). The hands-on workshop is designed for CMM technicians, metrology specialists, and quality engineers who need to better understand measurement programming, and the role of standards in the interoperability and ever-changing world of dimensional metrology.
