Event: Aerospace Measurement, Inspection & Analysis Conference

Event to focus on quality challenges in the aerospace industry.

(SME: Dearborn, MI) -- Come to the Society of Manufacturing Engineers’ (SME) Aerospace Measurement, Inspection & Analysis Conference, Sept. 29—Oct. 1, in Baltimore, at the Baltimore Convention Center.

This three-day event, to be held alongside the Aero & Defense Test 2009, will focus on the unique quality challenges facing those in all levels of aerospace manufacturing. The conference brings together manufacturing professionals sharing insights, the latest technologies, and process updates for anyone responsible for quality in aerospace, including manufacturing directors, managers, and engineers; new product and process development engineers; design engineers; and quality engineers. The conference can be customized to your interests by attending one, two, or three days.

  • Obtain insightful information on cutting-edge technology in the industry
  • Improve quality and lower production costs
  • Gain a better understanding of the proper techniques and applications that can be used in daily operations
  • Learn effective solutions to real world problems
  • Network with experts and peers
  • Have your specific questions answered and problems solved by industry experts
  • Attain information to benchmark your operations against other operations worldwide

Day 1: Measurement and inspection equipment

  • Capability studies (dimension, tolerance)
  • Applications
  • Equipment selection
  • For tooling
  • For components
  • For assemblies and assembled aircraft/vehicles

Day 2: Software and analysis

  • Analysis and reporting case studies
  • Software selection and challenges

Day 3: Integration and tour

Integration and other topics

Ever wonder what inspection techniques America’s space agency uses? Hear two presentations from experts at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center:

  • Metrology solutions for aspects of the integration and test of the James Webb Space Telescope
  • Hubble Space Telescope mirrors: measurement and inspection, beauty and meaning of the photographs they produce
  • More NASA expertise
  • Tour NASA’s Goddard Testing and Integration Facility and see the technology used in testing spacecraft, instruments, and components.

Experience vibration tests, acoustic chamber, static test, mass properties measurement, modal survey tests, and magnetic test facilities. Also featured is the Hubble Cleanroom—the world’s largest cleanroom—where new components are cleared prior to space shuttle launch for installation on the Hubble Space Telescope.
