Hexagon Metrology and Morris Group Announce Strategic Partnership

Morris Group divisions will become authorized distributors of Hexagon Metrology products.

Story update 11/23/2009: Information added on regions covered by this partnership.

(Hexagon Metrology: North Kingstown, RI) -- Hexagon Metrology Inc. of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, the world’s largest supplier of metrology equipment and software, and Morris Group Inc. of Windsor, Connecticut, one of the largest fully integrated suppliers of computer numeric control (CNC) machine tools and related engineering and support services in North America, have signed an agreement to form a strategic partnership.

Under the terms of the agreement, six key distributor divisions of Morris Group encompassing 10 regional offices and covering 24 states will become authorized to sell Hexagon Metrology’s dimensional measurement products. Hexagon Metrology products are used in quality control applications for manufacturing, and include programmable coordinate measuring machines, portable articulated arms, and software under the Brown & Sharpe, Sheffield, ROMER and PC-DMIS brand names.

“We are very excited to have engaged with Hexagon Metrology across our corporation,” says Bradley R. Morris, president of Morris Group. “Our expertise lies in developing unique engineered solutions for our customers using the most advanced technology available. Hexagon’s broad-based, superior quality multidimensional measuring equipment is a perfect fit with what we do best!”

“We are extremely pleased to add Morris Group to our North American distribution network,” says Angus Taylor, president and CEO of Hexagon Metrology.  “Their competence in the industrial market and geographic coverage are an ideal complement to our existing network.  As our range of products and services has broadened significantly in recent years, we recognized the need to expand our distribution to ensure that we have more local coverage in key markets. Morris Group is the ideal fit for us in this key territory.”

The Morris Group will cover New England, the Eastern Seaboard, the South, and a portion of the Midwest and Great Lakes region. Hexagon's Precision Centers in this territory include North Kingstown, Rhode Island; Huntersville (Charlotte), North Carolina; Miamisburg (Dayton/Cincinnati), Ohio; Elgin, (Chicago) Illinois; Irving (Dallas/Ft Worth), Texas; and Nashville. The Precision Centers will provide additional support to distribution partners, and will serve as the base of operations for Hexagon's direct sales force. Both the Morris Group and the recently announced partner Hartwig Inc. will complement Hexagon's direct sales force in these geographic regions.

Due to the significant increase in products and the breadth of metrology solutions in the Hexagon Metrology portfolio, augmenting their sales force with additional distribution partners enables the company to better serve their large customer base. The new Morris Group and Hartwig strategic partnerships more than doubles Hexagon Metrology's "feet on the street."

This strategic partnership enhances the abilities of both companies to meet the technologically sophisticated needs of manufacturers competing in the world economy for production of complex, precision parts.
