(FARO: Lake Mary, FL) -- FARO Technologies, provider of portable measurement and imaging systems, and its employees have donated $20,626 for Haitian relief by wearing jeans to work and simply opening their wallets and hearts to support the cause.
The FARO Cares Committee, an employee-based community outreach group, started the “Jeans for Charity” initiative last year. This program allows employees to wear jeans any day of the week for a $2 donation on each day of wearing jeans. The contributions have gone to various charitable campaigns from organizations such as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, UNICEF, and the Lake Mary Fire Department. Due to the recent devastating events in Haiti, the committee decided to send all of the Jeans for Charity donations from January to disaster relief in Haiti and FARO agreed to match each employee contribution dollar for dollar.
“I’m proud to say, we have so many great employees that have wanted to help and donate money to the relief efforts in Haiti. Every dollar makes a difference and FARO has agreed to match each employee donation to support the recovery effort after this incredibly tragic earthquake,” says David Morse, FARO Technologies senior vice president and managing director for the Americas.
FARO develops and markets computer-aided coordinate measurement and imaging devices and software. FARO’s portable equipment permits high-precision 3-D measurement, imaging, and comparison of parts and compound structures within production and quality assurance processes. The devices are used for inspecting components and assemblies, production planning, 3-D documentation, as well as for investigation and reconstruction of accident sites or crime scenes, and to generate digital scans of historic sites. Principal products include the FaroArm, the FARO Laser Tracker ION, FARO Laser ScanArm, FARO Laser Scanner, FARO Gage, and the CAM2 family of advanced CAD-based measurement and reporting software.
