(Delcam plc: Birmingham, United Kingdom) -- Software from Delcam and support from AZtech have helped VMP Team Audi to a successful season.

VMP Team Audi has entered into a partnership with Delcam’s South African reseller AZtech covering the supply of software, hardware, and support. Following a successful season in the Bridgeport Production Car Series, team manager Vic Maharaj emphasizes the benefits that his team had gained.

“We needed software that would allow us to be productive from day one and could import models designed in other software accurately enough for our modification work,” he stresses.  "Delcam’s PowerSHAPE CAD met the demands. The intuitive interface and the great support we received from the staff at AZtech helped us to dramatically reduce design bottlenecks. The software proved its worth to us by reducing time from concept to manufacture by days.”

“Even more important was our use of a CimCore portable measuring arm fitted with Delcam’s PowerINSPECT inspection software,” adds Maharaj.  "Following an accident during a race, we needed to identify whether our chassis and/or suspension cross members were out of specification. Again, the prompt response from AZtech allowed us to measure specific points and planes from the damaged area. By referencing the data we collected back to the CAD design specifications, we were able to identify the exact position and extent of the damage.

“Under normal circumstances, we would not have been able to do this so quickly or so reliably. This could have compromised our entire championship campaign, as we could have been disqualified if we had tried to race without the parts being brought back within the stipulated dimensions. The flexibility, maneuverability, and ease of use of the system were simply unbelievable. It will soon be a must-have tool for any serious motorsport company.

“We are looking forward to a closer relationship with AZtech in the future,” concludes Maharaj.  “We can see the benefits of our relationship translating into lap-time gains on the racetrack, which really is the bottom line of any partnership.”
