CMSC 2008 Is Almost Here!

You’re invited to join your colleagues at the coordinate measurement event of the year.

The Coordinate Metrology Society is pleased to post a diverse but technically packed week of presentations and activities for CMSC 2008. This year’s record number of 46 submitted abstracts has resulted in an exciting lineup for you, our attendees.

The technical agenda commences with Jon Cowart of NASA Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Program, whose keynote address will discuss the contribution of portable 3-D metrology to Space Shuttle Columbia’s investigation and on current projects. The remaining three days include more than 25 presentations covering the following topics (just to name a few):
  • Use of scanning products in some of the remotest areas of the world, including the Gobi desert, to preserve ancient stone monoliths.
  • The integration of diverse metrology hardware and software to solve difficult assembly and inspection requirements
  • Use of high-precision 3-D metrology by international research agencies working on experiments at Cern, Switzerland, and on the Wendelstein fusion experiment in Greifswald, Germany
  • Integration and synchronization of various hardware devices, along with software in Germany, Sweden, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Canada, and the United States, to solve difficult assembly and inspection requirements in automotive,  aerospace,  shipbuilding, and power generation
  • Implementation of leading-edge metrology techniques to assemble products from Boeing, NASCAR, General Motors, and NASA
  • Academic discussions on equipment testing and process techniques

Your technical overload will be tempered with breaks, lunches, and social networking events to relieve those tired eyes, ears, and minds. Golf is offered on Sunday along with cocktail events on Monday and Tuesday, and a banquet on Wednesday night. The week rounds out with a full-day tour of the Richard Childress Racing museum, facility, and winery, sure to be a premium highlight for NASCAR fans.

The Coordinate Metrology Society invites you to CMSC 2008!

P.S. While at CMSC 2008, a visit to Lowe’s Motor Speedway is a must.
